Re: CategoryFilters

I did something similar and it worked fine for me (although I never finished that game). public class CollisionGroups { /** * Static bodies collides with all bodies except other static bodies. */ public static final CategoryFilter STATIC_BODIES = new CategoryFilter(1, 14); /** * Dynamic bodies colli...

A 3D physics engine :-)

Something like PhysX, Bullet Physics, Torque 3D.

Re: Applyforce in the direction (or opposite) of the body

I guess (haven't checked) but a body can be moving in only one direction, like if you push a billiard ball it will move in a direction but that is not the same as saying "the front of the car". So a moving body can have a direction but I guess you are more interested in "I want to mov...

Re: Applyforce in the direction (or opposite) of the body

It boils down to: "The body has a direction and I want the force to be applied in that direction." In dyn4j the body has no direction, that is something your code interprets. So if you decide that "forward" starts out as positive Y your code can build up a force vector like this ...

Re: Evaluation Version of SimPHY: The physics smulator

I know the website is under construction so maybe you already plan on changing this, but currently the log-in form is posting data unencrypted. You really, really, really should use HTTPS. I use letsencrypt to get certificates and suggest you look at them or someone else to provide the certificates....

Re: Question about applying upward forces to counteract gravity

So let's say you createa body and add it to the world, then you apply a force to the body to counteract gravity. Then step the world. During that step the force is applied and then removed. The next step of the world the force is gone and only gravity will excert a force? So as long as you apply ant...

Re: Colliding with a 2D projection of a 3D model

Maybe a middle ground could be to provide some way of scaling on X and Y a fixture/body. That would move the center of mass and could create degenerate polygons but would not create polygons that are concave or contains holes.

Re: World.update gets stuck

I hooked JVisualVM from start until in halted (and some minutes more): ... What's strange is that even if the memory usage grows, it's still far from the limit. Maybe the bodies amount could be a problem, but it doesn't seem that the world is looping over 75k bodies every step either, because the p...

Re: World.update gets stuck

It's a bit tricky but you can set up remote JMX connections so you run JVisualVM or JConsole on your dev-computer and connect to the headless-server.
