Different experience between different machines

Postby thinush » Wed Jul 06, 2016 4:24 am

Hi,

I have 2 machines running the same code. But the experiences are different.
The application I'm running is pretty simple. It's a sphere falling inside a rectangle boxed area.
But on one machine the simulation seems slower and on the other machine it seems very fast... agile. (The ball falls from stand still allot faster on the laptop)
On both machine's the speed to complete world update and render is under 10 milliseconds.
I use the standard setup in the 'Settings' class (unmodified).
And I use the example code provided for my update world.

Machine specs:
Desktop Is a AMD X6 CPU (kinda oldish). Running Windows 10 and Java 8 SDK.
The Laptop is HP Elitebook 8760w which seems to run much faster in general than my Desktop machine. Operating system is Open Suse and also Sun JDK 1.8.

I'd like to investigate maybe and assist with identifying what the cause of this would be. I'm thinking it's clock related, because performance on both machines complete the update world instantly and no reason to lag on any. I do call update on world as fast as possible, but from my understanding that should not matter.

Could anyone provide some tips or assistance on this? Else what kind of information can I gather to help solve this issue?

Thank you.

It is impossible to say since you do not show any code.

Are you actually running the samples you linked? It sounded like you had written code yourself.
